Fallen out of love

Okay, so my David Cook infatuation may have come to an end. I'm fickle that way. One bad performance -- he's out.

I hated his performance. The beginning was way too low for his voice... And I hated what he was wearing... Simon said he looked pretentious. I just thought he looked femme. And not in a good way. Yuck.

I also don't understand what the judges see in David Archuleta. Except maybe for the last fifteen seconds of the song... he sounded like what he is -- a little kid trying to do a Robbie Williams impression and sounding like a total amateur.

Why the hell do the judges want him to win? (which they so seem to) Do they really think people will buy the records he makes? I don't get it. Not at all. Then again, I'm not a 12-year-old girl... Perhaps his target audience. But even 12-year-old girls like their music to be more poppy and less schmaltzy, don't they? Maybe his target audience is actually eighty-year-old women. I'm not one of those, either.

Anyone a fan of his? What am I not getting? (And why am I watching American Idol anyway...)

I have not been following Idol that closely this season just off and on. I'm not a big David Archuleta fan either though. I don't get when every one else is getting either.

This has been a weird AI season for me. Usually I have at least one person I'm rooting for but not this year.

Sure, they can all sing, but I can't think of one person I'd pay to see in concert or shell out money for their CD.

However, I still plan to watch, if only to hear Simon's comments.

And I keep hoping one of the contestants will wow me, the way Chris Daughtry did with Walk The Line and Katharine McPhee did with Over The Rainbow. I literally got goosebumps when they performed those songs.

Hey, Maureen! I thought I would pop-in as i needed respite from the 2 year old screaming "I want ice-cream!" for breakfast. Argh!
I have to admit I have been watching AI this season, and I totally agree with your comments about the Davids. I couldn't get why Jason (as cute as he is), had survived as long as he has - then I saw his last performance and I got why he was still in the running (although a long shot). When you're a mum of 2 under 2 and you can't get any writing done, AI somehow becomes appealing between feeds and bottom changes!

I'm a huge David Cook fan Maureen but even I had to turn the button to mute when he sang on Tuesday, but then everyone disappointed me that night apart from Jason Castro and Kristi Lee Cook. The judges, if they want Archuleta to win, are looking at the fact that he seems to have developed a huge fan base which may turn into record sales. Tweens apparently spend alot of money which is why Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Bros. are famous.

I LOVE idol. It is a funny series though this year. My affiliations keep changing. David A is cute and he will have huge record sales so I'm sure that's why the judges are going for him.

David A was delightful for about 15 minutes -- then the novelty wore off and the (to use your term) shmaltziness took over.
I'm done. He might grab my interest again when he's had some life experience. For now, I'll leave him to the 12 year olds.

I still like David Cook and was hoping that he or Carly would win (I'm not crazy about her per se, but her voice is all power and I like that). Sad that Carly was voted off when clearly Brooke should have gone!
