Rocky XXXXX

Am I the only one, or is the premise for the new Rocky movie totally dumb and fatally flawed? Okay, I concede I have not seen the movie and am only basing this opinion on the trailer...

So, based on the trailer, this seems to be the premise: There's a computer simulation that pits boxers from different time periods against each other. Problem one. It's a computer simulation. That anyone would assume anything from that is just dumb.

Okay, we'll let that go and continue. Computer simulation Rocky, from the 70's, wins the boxing match against the current champ. Okay, fine. But based on this, 30-years-older Rocky decides to take on the champ he "beat" in the simulation. Big problem two. Does he not realize the simulation was him in the 70's??? When he was already over the hill as a boxer in his 30's???? The simulation didn't age him 60 years, does it? And if it did, how could it? I would love to have heard the discussion at the studio where someone decided this was a good idea.

I know the whole Rocky franchise is about the underdog beating unbelievable odds, but this premise is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

And really, does the world need another Rocky movie??? (Did we need more than one in the first place?)

I have no hesitation to say- the world DOES NOT need another Rocky movie. One was fine- continuing the series is just sad and pathetic. Please someone stop him. Also make him stop the Botox. He looks very surprised all the time and that isn't good either.

I totally agree.

And Sly looks BAD in the previews. I know a lot of my male friends are very excited about it. I don't we're their target market.

The movie network has been showing every rocky movie -- one a night for the last week and the husband has been glued GLUED! He's making noises about wanting to see this new one.I'm not sure if it's the powerful soundtracks (lying in bed last night listening to eye of the tiger got me pretty fired up) or the fact that Adam is getting older and feeling it. Point is we're hardly that movie's target audience....

So I checked rotten tomatoes to see what critics are saying and al ost all of them are saying "i can't believe I'm writing this but it's a good movie!"

The world's gone nuts maureen, NUTS!!

I'm going to disagree. The movie looks to be about aging and acceptance of that fact. Besides, it's set to be a fight for entertainment sake that Rocky simply doesn't want to be humiliated in. It's gettting fantastic reviews too. When I heard he was doing another movie, I thought it sounded lame. When I saw the trailer, it reminded me how much I enjoyed the movies that came before. Rocky IV was the last movie I remember going to that people in the audience clapped at the end.

The new movie is about facing your fears, your weaknesses both perceived and valid, and going forward anyhow. A good life lesson, IMHO. Did the world need another Rocky movie? Probably not. But I think it just might be worth seeing. :-)

Michelle... Now that movie sounds okay... But the trailer makes it look like the first Rocky movie, 30 years later.

I hate bad trailers... Have been planning a rant on the subject but still building my thoughts.
