Okay, so I admit I probably haven't spent enough time on Facebook to totally get what's going on... And maybe I'm at least twenty years beyond their target demographic, but certain things are making me crazy.
Like those "click here and see what happens" messages. Am I missing something or are those just nuisance posts, or worse, something where our facebook ID's are getting captured for nefarious purposes. They make you think someone you know has sent you something, but then...
Nothing happens right??? Except, if you're not careful, you end up sending the same damn thing to all your Facebook friends? A spammer.
Please someone tell me if I'm missing something here.
I love certain elements of Facebook. I've reconnected with some people from high school and it's been pretty cool that way. But I could do without all the crap.

There's a reason that I'm not on Facebook or LinkedIn or any of those social networks.
I think the most important thing a gal owns is her contact list. I'm not opening up that contact list to just anyone (which is why I have a smokin' contact list as it is).
When I looked at these networks, I thought "hhhmmm... these are completely spam-worthy." Hack in here, leave a little something there, and voila, access to unlimited contact lists.
I'm on Facebook but don't do anything with it. Myspace is about all my brian can cope with!!!
Though I've just joined Jacketflap which is good - and will be even better once I get my finger out and do my profile properly!!
Smart, Sara and Kimber.
I didn't really do Facebook for publicizing my writing... I think it was a non-writing friend who sent me my first invite.
I love lots of things about it, but man, some things make me crazy.
hi maureen,
1. i am staying well away from myspace and facebook because i know i will be drawn into an endless timesuch if i venture in
2. as promised, i posted about your excerpt. despite kimbers best efforts i am still techno-stupid so i don't want to attempt to put a link here (you're not supposed to do that in comments - right? right?), but if you're interested, you can check it out on the blog
I know nothing, really, about Facebook. Trying to get a handle on MySpace was challenge enough :).
I'm not on Facebook or Myspace, but I will say I'm more likely to join Facebook in the future--Myspace totally skeeves me out. Every time I go there, I end up getting propositioned by a nasty old guy, or something. It's gross.
oh my, facebook just keeps on sucking me in. its so addictive. i heard it being called crackbook recently! i hate those stupid games and other stuff too though. i just like nosing at people's profiles!
Joanne, I love nosing in people's profiles, too. And I love the status update feature. Just reading down those for my friends makes me almost feel like I know what's going on in their lives.
And the contests are fun. What bugs me, is when they force you to send the contest to other people in order to get your results. That's what makes me feel like a spammer...
LOVE your book cover, by the way.
