I Love You, Man

So, enjoyed this movie. Paul Rudd, anyone? And it was fun and his character was dorkily adorable and the Seth Rogen Jason Segal* character wasn't nearly as obnoxious as I was expecting--even showed some vulnerable layers...

But I couldn't help thinking... They've done it. Hollywood has figured out how to marginalize women, even in romantic comedies. A romantic comedy where the girl is the side-kick. Even managed to make her a secondary character at her own wedding.

Sigh.

Still enjoyed it. How about you?

*(Hmm... they are slightly interchangeable. Still. Sloppy, Maureen. Sloppy!)

Haven't watched it yet. Since the Oscars, the only movies we've seen are rentals: Changeling, Bottle Shock, Flash of Genius, Rachel Getting Married.

Haven't seen it. We get out to movies so rarely that most we end up watching On Demand.

Agreed.
But also LOVED.
Paul Rudd... as much as I enjoy him, wasn't sure he could carry the lead. Happy that he completely pulled it off. I love him all the more.

I still haven't seen Flash of Genius, Annette. Was it any good?

Wasn't a big fan of The Changeling (too long) or Bottle Shock (bits were fun, but overall, weak) but I LOVE LOVE LOVED Rachel Getting Married.

I actually haven't been to the movies as much as I usually do... Maybe 3 films this year? (It's not unusual for me to do 3 a week...)

Don't know why. Catching up on TV series? Hibernating? Maybe a little of both.

Flash of Genius was good. A bit frustrating at times, but it's based on a true story, which sounds frustrating. I'd recommend watching it.

Really enjoyed Rachel Getting Married. I love movies where life is messy and things don't get neatly tied up in a big happy bow at end.

Glad to hear more about this one. I'd like to see it, but am waiting for the DVD. Despite marginalizing the female characters, I'm glad that they've made a relationship movie for guys. Perhaps this could be a trend.

It's gotten to the point where I'll really watch anything Paul Rudd is in, with a minimum of fuss. I even enjoyed Role Models.
